As if the film series wouldn't make enough money to finance its own sequel, Fast and Furious 6 has been dubbed in Hindi. The movie, which stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, is said to be in Arabic and Urdu as well. This latest transmigration of the franchise is a sign that Hollywood and Bollywood are co-mingling — Hollywood is reaping its benefit through releases made in India while Bollywood gains international recognition by contributing to the world's highest grossing franchises. The Hollywood Reporter stated, "Fast and Furious 6 has taken in $218.2 million in its first weekend in most global markets, including $177.4 million in North America for Universal's largest opening weekend ever. It will top the domestic box office for the third straight week on Saturday with roughly $18.4 million." The series was first made into a Bollywood blockbuster with 2009's "Race", starring Salman Khan, which grossed over $17 million worldwide on a budget of around $25 million. The franchise is said to be the highest-grossing film series created by Hollywood. "This is a perfect example of how Indian filmmakers, whose movies have a strong local appeal, can play a meaningful role in Hollywood," said Amrita Pandey of K9 Films who produced "Race" and is "Fast and Furious 6"'s Indian co-producer. The next release from the franchise will be the seventh installment in the series, due for release in 2015.
